Hi! My husband and I are travelling to Europe to visit family, so are looking for somebody to stay in our home to take care of our dog, Tigger, and blind cat, Tattie from Feb 26th- March 12th 2025 (dates may be flexible). We are world travelers, and have been house and pet sitters in the past ourselves. We much prefer having someone in our home to care for our pets while we are gone, especially since Tigger is a nervous rescue dog and doesn't do well in kennels!
Basic tasks - feed, water, play! They both have automatic feeders. Tigger is a rescue (he was dumped on the highway and abandoned in Hawaii) so he takes a few days to stop being scared and trust you, but once he does he will be your best friend and want to cuddle and play. We have a fenced in yard where he loves to play fetch, although he has an injured leg at the moment so he needs to take it easy! He is very anxious outside of the home with strangers and other animals, so we usually just advise sitters to tire him out in the yard vs going on walks! Tattie is our sweet blind kitty. She mostly lives downstairs and has a self cleaning litter tray and automatic feeder, so all she needs is treats and to be let in and out. She likes to go outside and explore during the day.
Home on a small cul-de-sac in the countryside with a small town 5 minutes drive away. Beautiful vineyard less than a mile away. A few minutes from the airport. Lots of vineyards, cideries, hiking routes etc. nearby! Only 20 minutes from Charlottesville, 30 minutes to Skyline Drive/Shenandoah National Park. Close to many historic sites such as Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, James Madison's residence, civil war battlefields, etc.
