Pet sitting & House sitting job in Southern California
Southern California - Los Angeles
Bill
Hello.
We are Bill and Ellen and are offering our home for the dates above. In return, we need care for Daisy and Dash (photos attached), our 2 affectionate indoor/outdoor cats, who require being kept indoors at night because of coyote issues. Daisy requires two oral medications (both liquid and pleasantly chicken-flavored for cats), one of which is administered once daily and the other one is given just twice weekly. Daisy is very compliant and takes the small amount of liquid meds easily. Every other week (just twice monthly), she requires a vitamin B12 injection (subcutaneous-i.e. just under the skin) which is also very easy to administer. She doesn't even react when we give her this injection from a very fine needle just into a fold of loose skin. Daily feedings and patrolling the litter box are required. Anyone considering a stay at our house for this time must be committed to the entire period and must be able to perform the cat care every day until our return.
We are located in Pacific Palisades, one of the nicest neighborhoods in Los Angeles, near Santa Monica (just north of Santa Monica, just south of Malibu and west of the Brentwood neighborhood) in a luxurious 1-story 4,500 sq. ft. home with pool in the Riviera section of Pacific Palisades, just minutes from the beach. Palisades village is approximately a 7-minute drive away with grocery stores, restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and almost anything else you might need while all of Los Angeles lies before you to explore within easy driving distance.
We have good WiFi, premium cable, a gourmet kitchen, washer/dryer, dishwasher, a/c and furnace, burglar alarm system and many other amenities.
House-sitter(s) must be mature, very responsible non-smokers and will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the house and notifying us immediately if any infrastructure issues arise that need to be addressed while we are away in addition to occasionally watering a few indoor and outdoor plants and retrieving our mail daily and notifying us if any mail needs immediate attention (rare). Note that we do maintain a weekly pool maintenance service as well as weekly gardeners so there is minimal exterior maintenance needed on the part of our house-sitters other than to keep a watchful eye and notify us of any issues.
We will require identification, a background check and references as well as an understanding of who will be living at the house during this time period and how many people will be using the house. We will also need to meet with you in person prior to this housesit to go over all the "moving parts" in our home so that you are able to operate everything properly. If you are coming from out of town, we would prefer that you arrive no later than the evening of April 28 in order to thoroughly acquaint you with the house and cats. You are welcome to sleep here and overlap with us prior to our departure. We will need to spend most of the day on April 29 getting you up to speed on house and cats. We depart early the next morning, on April 30. We are scheduled to return at 5:30 p.m. on June 12 so we will need you to stay at least until our return that night but you are most welcome to stay an additional day, especially if you do not live locally. Considering all the current airline schedule changes, if you are flying to/from Los Angeles, it is best to book your return flight on or after June 13 for a little safety cushion in case the airline changes or cancels flights.
Note that you can learn more about us on our travel blog (contact us for the website and details).
Please let us know your interest and any questions you might have.
Thank you!
