We need a house sitter

Williamette Valley - Benton

Lori

We live about 2 miles off the highway at the end of a basically flat road. Our property has mostly open fields and orchards and is surrounded by forest. You would stay in an separate open format 24'x36' upstairs apartment with a queen bed, fully equipped kitchen, and an enclosed full bathroom with tub/shower. There are six 4'x6' windows with views of the property. The front of the apartment has a 24'x36' covered patio with propane heaters, dining areas, sofas and a ping pong table. We are 45 minutes from coast and 45 minutes from the Willamette Valley. There miles of hiking roads right off our property. You would see deer, elk, and other wildlife in our yard and fields and visiting waterfowl on our pond.
Farm Stay Duties:
Animals
Our cats get fed with 2-3 scoops every two days as needed. Our poultry have a feed hopper that gets filled about once every 3-4 weeks.
Cats get water from creek, trough, and pond. We appreciate you petting and hanging out with the cats to keep them socialized. Poultry have a big trough that only needs filling occasionally and a kids wading pool that needs regular filling for the ducks and geese during the summer. During the short freezes in the winter, the birds would need a bucket of water each day as their water trough can freeze over. Kitchen scraps, other than anything chicken, can be thrown into the bird yard. Harvest eggs daily.
Plants and Garden
I have lots of indoor potted plants that will need watering. I will give the sitter explicit directions depending on the time of year. In the summer I have a garden that needs care. We have the hoses and sprinklers pretty much setter up and the water just has to be turned on. Sitters may need to use the riding lawnmower to mow the yard once or twice. Plant care in the winter is much more limited.
Other things:
Check our deep freezers regularly especially after the power goes out to ensure that they are up and running. We have wonderful, capable neighbors who will help you if you have any questions or concerns.

Reviews (1)
Absolutely loved my time at Lori & Steve’s home, they are incredible people who welcomed me in like family. They were very generous in sharing knowledge of the local landscape & connecting me with the wider community, ensuring I was supported & comfortable during my stay. Their property is idyllic for those who enjoy retreating in an off-grid type setting immersed in the wonders of the natural world on the fringes of the forest. I have fallen in love with the area thanks to their introductions ... MORE
