Experience Thanksgiving in Little Rock! (No dog-walking required--just basic care and love!)
We're seeking a sitter for 8 days over the week of Thanksgiving for three quirky stair-step pups (approx. 8-26 lbs) and a personality-plus indoor kitty.
Our home is in the safe, pedestrian-friendly, and centrally-located Hillcrest neighborhood of Little Rock. A 5-minute walk will take you to the Fletcher Library or a bus stop, and services such as pizza delivery and Uber are readily available. In one direction, less than a mile away, are a grocery store and the engaging Hillcrest Entertainment District (featuring coffee shops, restaurants, and more); in the other direction, also a mile away, you’ll find fast food, Starbucks, Target, and the Park Plaza Mall. Eateries for all tastes are just a few minutes away by car, and the popular and scenic River Market area (including the Arkansas River Trail, Discovery Museum, beautiful/historic bridges, kayak rentals, food, drink, and so much more) are less than 5 miles away. You can find wooded hiking trails and tennis courts in Allsopp Park about 2 miles away, and an easy 13-mile drive will take you to Pinnacle Mountain State Park (that features free entry, kayaking opportunities, and miles of hiking/biking trails). Other than outdoor pursuits, there's always something fun going on in this area--from yoga in the park and seasonal farmers markets to live music and gallery exhibits.
Our critters will need love and company while we're away. They're all healthy and have low-key care requirements: Everyone gets fed morning and evening; the pups need to be let out (into the fenced backyard) when they wake up, before bedtime, and every 6-7 hours in between; and the cat litter needs scooping daily. The two smaller pups get their teeth brushed every night (this is negotiable--although it's not hard and takes about 30 seconds). The only "medication" is some probiotic that's added to everyone's dinners. Our furbabies are rescues. The largest pup is anxious, but as sweet as can be, and the two small ones are getting older/grumpier, but are also kind souls. No dog-walking needed. The dogs are all house- and kennel-trained, and they get crated at night and during pup meals. They all enjoy curling up beside someone on the couch for naps. Our furbabies sometimes take a little while to warm up to new people, but they're all sweet/quirky critters.
Our house isn't fancy, but it is comfortable and includes highspeed internet and off-street/covered parking. You would stay in a guest room with a queen-sized Sleep Number bed and your own bathroom. The common areas in the rest of the house (living room, kitchen, laundry area, etc.) would also be available to you. The house has old wood and laminate floors, and there's a flat screen TV and comfy couch in the living room. The kitchen was remodeled a few years ago, and is currently still missing cabinet doors (sigh). =)
All the info you need--pet care details, pets' personality quirks, house considerations, emergency contacts--will be printed out for you.
If you need to arrive a day or so early, or leave a day or so later, let us know and we can likely work something out!
Other things to note:
1. No smoking anything inside or near open windows/doors. Moderate drinking is fine.
2. No parties or loud/late-night music, etc., at the house. We have close (and attentive) neighbors.
3. Our pups need an outdoor break every 7 hours, but aside from that, we invite you to get out and explore/enjoy the area!
4. We're tentatively open to you bringing your well-behaved, dog- and cat-friendly, non-destructive dog(s). This decision will be made on a case-by-case basis based on how well the pet groups blend.
5. Good references required (from any source).
If you have questions about anything, just ask! We're down-to-earth, fully-vaccinated/boosted, LGBTQ+-friendly people. Thanks for considering! =)
