Chicagoland - Cook - Chicago
Shelley
In all honesty, I am blessed to live in one of the best houses in one of the best locations in Chicago. It is a an extra-wide home (feels like a suburban home) on the corner lot (tons of windows) of a double cul de sac (very little traffic) on a quiet street in Little Italy. Though it is quiet with two parks in under two blocks (one basically in the back yard), it is close to EVERYTHING! It is under a 10 minute walk to the Pink and Blue lines, a 5 min walk to the restaurants and amenities on Taylor St and a 20-25 min walk to the restaurants and amenities in West Loop. Both I90 and 290 are right here too. So it's truly the best of both worlds - quiet and tree-filled yet close to all the action.
The house itself is large, homey, with lots of old character yet all updated. The house was built in 1886 and has been lovingly restored, maintaining all the gorgeous woodwork. There's an open kitchen, dining, and great room on the main level. Several bedrooms are upstairs. Downstairs is another livng area, work out area (you can use my elliptical machine), and bedroom. You can also make use of an office on the main floor. There's a lovely patio outside as well as parking.
The reason for the house sitter is that we have been adopted by a wonderful and uber cool formerly feral cat named Polky. She is now an indoor/outdoor cat who is famous in the neighborhood with many friends. She wears a GPS collar so we can always see where she is and know when she comes in and out of the yard. Polky doesn't need much work. The main thing is to let her in from her nightly prowl in the morning and loosely keep tabs on her once in a while during the day. She will also seek reassurance that she's not been "forgotten and abandoned" with some affection. She's a neat cat and likes people. You will get a kick out of her!
Though there are a lot of bedrooms, to keep the neighbors and Polky happy, there's a max of 4 people. No parties. Looking for chill and calm people who want to enjoy a beautiful home in a beautiful and convenient spot with a cool cat.
For longer times away in summer, it would be very helpful if you could help watering the window boxes outside and potentially watering or mowing grass. We can discuss if this poses a problem.
