Claire
Hello!
My name is Claire and my husband's name is David. Our dog's name is Kodi (short for Kodiak). David and I
have been happily married for 45 years, raised three boys (men now) and are both retired professionals.
David has worked for many universities across the country as a professor of nonprofit management. I have been employed in the nonprofit sector for about 40 years. I was responsible for dining
services in various retirement communities across the country. We have lived in Virginia, Colorado, Washington, Tennessee, Maryland, New Jersey, and North Carolina where we are
today. Yes, we have moved a lot!
We live in Western North Carolina, just outside of Asheville in a little town called Candler (we are still looking for the center of town). We love our home because it sits on 4 acres of land in the middle of a forest on top of a mountain overlooking the Blue Ridge. From here, you can be deep in the mountains in a matter of minutes. The view is simply gorgeous: you can see Mt. Pisgah from our back deck. It is a perfect place for a mountain getaway. Our neighbors are beautiful people who share our enthusiasm of living in nature.
My husband and I love to hike and spend much of our time walking on trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah View State Park which surrounds our property. We also love to go kayaking and canoeing in the many lakes and rivers around the area. In addition, we often take a short drive into Asheville for entertainment. Of all the places we have lived, Asheville has the most down to earth entertainment opportunities, like many affordable restaurants, theaters, wineries, breweries, night clubs, and arts and crafts. We love it!
But alas, we have not traveled much and now its time for us to visit family and friends and see some of the rest of the world. So we are looking for someone who loves dogs to live in our home and take care of sweet Kodi while we are traveling. Kodi, is a wonderful two and a half year old Norwegian Elk Hound who loves people and dogs. He gets so excited on the trail to meet others. But we keep him leashed so he does not get into trouble with other hikers or city park goers. If you are a dog lover, you will certainly find Kodi irresistible!
