Sit local, or anywhere
You can keep it close to home, or you can use house sitting as a way to travel on a shoestring. It's all good, and it starts here.

Easy housesit in McKinleyville California, where your main duty will be to feed my cat and keep her company.
Kali is a 9-year-old floofy cat. She's generally social and cuddly, likes to sleep a lot, especially on the couch with a human and a blanket. She can be a bit stressed around sudden noises and needs to build trust before she's fully herself around strangers, but sitters generally come to adore her sweet personality. She gets fed twice a day and is on a mini diet since she's gained a bit of weight in the last 2 years from lots of moving and less outdoor playtime. She doesn't like to be picked up and I recommend you avoid it. But if you must (for example, to bring her in), just be ready that she might be a bit "uneasy". She is allowed outside but should be in if you leave for more than 1 hour, or at night. She is on no medication, fully vaccinated, and healthy.
My house is in a quiet neighborhood, about 1 mile from the ocean and 45 minutes to the Redwood National and State Park. You will have your own freshly painted guest bedroom and private bathroom. My house is fairly spacious, with new floors throughout and a modern kitchen. For short sits, there's no yard work expected, or housework expected.
The local area is suburban-like and generally pretty quiet. Arcata, the college town, is about 10 minutes to the south. There are lots of outdoor sites to visit on the coast and people generally enjoy visiting Eureka, Ferndale, and Trinidad (among favorites).
