We have an an older but very charming Ski Chalet in Bartlett, NH - right across the road from Attitash Mountain Ski Resort. It sits on a 35-acre plot of land (all of which is family owned) that houses a few other residences. It is a very peaceful and quiet area. The Chalet has an open living design upstairs, and down stairs a one bed, one full bath, and one dog room design. The property previously was a chalet and cottage resort, before my family took it over. It briefly served as a Service Dog training headquarters, but that unfortunately was cut short during the pandemic. Now it is a gorgeous property that houses a few long term tenants, and some short term. It was constructed quite a long time ago and has its quirks, but really is a special place!
We have 5 dogs, which sounds overwhelming, but they have a great setup that makes care super easy. We have 2 German shepherds, 1 lab, 1 golden, and 1 Lagotto Romanolo. MY wife and I previously ran a nonprofit service dog organization, which is where most of our pets came from, and as a result almost all of them have received a lot of temperament and obedience training. The most complicated part of our care routine is different play groups due to our shepherds not always playing nice with each other.
All of our dogs are crate trained and eat dinners in a crate. Their dog room has a ramp that leads into a fenced in dog yard where they typically play and go to the bathroom. Our dogs are welcome inside the house as well, just not while humans aren't there. They love to go on walks, but it is not required. Day to day care would involve rotating play groups, one meal per day, and ensuring they have water in their bucket. They of course would love attention, but we have no requirements! We are just thankful for the help! Our dogs can go many hours at a time in their crates in between play groups, so it is very easy to get out and explore the White Mountains while visiting!
Our chickens have a great set up with coop/run/automatic door. The only tasks for them is a once-a-day check for eggs, and a water/food check a few times during the stay. They have a large heated waterer and a large food container so it should never need anything while you're there. They are adorable Silkies and love attention, so you are absolutely welcome to interact with them and have fun, but nothing required/necessary!
We welcome you to take advantage of the house, the high speed wifi, the smart tvs, the washer and dryer, and anything in the kitchen. We have just about anything you may need to cook a meal including blenders, air fryer, a smart oven, electric stove, and kitchen aid. We only ask that the kitchen is cleaned up afterwards! The only true negative of the house is the bathroom is a bit on the small side.
We live within 30 minutes of 6 ski resorts, within minutes of snowmobile trails and hundreds of hiking trails, 15 minutes from the center of North Conway, and the entire back side of the property is a gorgeous bank along the Saco River. It is completely acceptable to explore the property as long as others and their residences are respected.
It is not lost on us that this is a huge group of animals and a big responsibility. Even well-trained animals are a ton of work. We are so appreciative to anyone willing to take care of our pups and chicks! We really are low key as long as they're getting the basics they need to be healthy. We hope you would be able to take advantage of the area! We will make sure our sitter has any questions answered, is comfortable with a routine, provide a guide book with all necessary information and suggestions on the area, as well as a welcome basket with some goodies!
Thank you in advance!
