We live in a 2-bed, 2-bath ranch close to I-64. The closest train station and airport are in nearby Norfolk, VA. Our home is near a bus stop, but transit is very limited. We can lend bicycles, and you can get by here without a car, however. Lyft and Uber are options, too. There’s a pleasant park within walking distance. A few steps lead up to the front porch if this is of concern.
If you bring or rent a car, off-street parking is available. Norfolk, Olde Towne Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, North Carolina’s Outer Banks, Busch Gardens, and Colonial Williamsburg are all within 30 minutes to 3 hours’ drive. We can give recommendations depending on what you like to do.
Sitters are expected to stay nights, lock up when out, and take care of Red the Beagle. Good communication skills and a few updates are expected as well.
You will have access to a full-sized bed in our guest bedroom. you will enjoy our renovated hall bathroom with a walk-in shower, no tub. You may use our kitchen and washer/dryer as well.
Red is friendly and laid back except during thunderstorms, which he dislikes. We have a fenced yard so you are free to explore the area as long as he gets food, attention, walks, and love. We will consider a dog-friendly pet. We are not set up for children, however.
Red is a much better companion with regular walks. Plan on about two hours per week, although we are flexible about whether you walk a little daily or take a long walk or two. If you like to hike, though, he can keep right up as long as it’s not too hot outside—it can be too hot for dogs during the summer for most of the day.
We have some plants we might need help with but that’s optional. If you like mowing the lawn, let’s talk, if not, we will hire someone.
