Shirley

Summer in the Smokies is a great time to pet sit! I am looking for a single person or couple who wants to explore the Western North Carolina area and stay in my cozy cottage caring for my two well-behaved dogs. This area has a treasure trove of cool things to see and do.

I'm looking for someone with a love for pets who will ensure pet care is a top priority. Posted dates are firm pending airline not changing my flights, and encompass the needed pet sitting dates as best I can predict.

Pets:
One 10 year old Goldendoodle with a fair amount of energy, and one 9 year old Mini-Schnauzer who likes to chase birds and squirrels in the yard. The yard has an Invisible Fence so walking is not required unless you want to. The dogs do enjoy neighborhood walks if you're so inclined but not required at all.

Plants:
Some outdoor potted plant watering would be appreciated but no yard maintenance required.

General:
Both dogs are super friendly and neither one sheds. They need backyard supervision a couple times a day and twice a day feeding. They can be alone inside for a maximum of about 6 hours, which should leave time for you to explore the area.

There are over 800 miles of hiking trails in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park. (no dogs on trails though) There's many, many nearby trails too. Explore the Blue Ridge Parkway with just a short drive to one of the entrances.

Enjoy Maggie Valley, Waynesville (10 min. away), Cherokee (20 min. away), Asheville (40 min. away), and Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge (90 minutes away). The always beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway is just 10 minutes away!

If you want to visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN, it's about 1.5 hours away. Craft beer enthusiasts would find WNC a great place to explore and sample local brews. Great trout fishing can be found right here in Maggie Valley on easily accessible Jonathan Creek.

Cottage Details:
Cozy, but comfortable (two bedroom/one bathroom, 800 sq. ft.) in a wooded area
Has all the usual kitchen appliances except dishwasher
WiFi and streaming TV channels
Has Mini-Split Heat/AC system and bedrooms have additional room sized dehumidifiers to help in the summer
Wrap around covered porch for enjoying nature
Small outdoor charcoal grill
Private road, very quiet area
Non-smokers preferred due to homeowner allergies

We loved our house sit for Shirley and her two adorable dogs, Murray and Munson. The doggies were very loving, very obedient. Shirley made us feel welcome, providing us with a clean and comfortable home away from home. Her instructions were clear and extensive...everything we needed to know. The location was perfect for a stay in the beautiful smoky mountains of North Carolina.

MARTIN AND VIVIAN (Aug 2023 - 1 week)
Shirley was awesome communicating and making sure everything she needed was conveyed through a document and printed version. She was kind and her doggies were precious. I will miss them very much. The area was beautiful and I enjoyed every moment.

TRACY (Aug 2022 - 1 week 2 days)
The minute Shirley and I started communicating it was like I was talking to an aunt. She made me feel like family instantly. Everything about her house, dogs, and community were perfect and we could not be more thankful that she chose us. It was a wonderful experience.

BETH (May 2022 - 1 week)
Beth and her family were the perfect choice for taking care of my house and pups. I'm so glad we were able to help each other out and I would have Beth back in an instant if I ever need house/dog care again. I couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out.
No rating Shirley has an immaculate home in a great setting and friendly, lovable dogs that are a joy to have around. She is very easy to work with and highly recommend her.
