Olde 96 - Edgefield
Betsy
Our mom and dad are going out-of-town and we need someone to take good care of us. My name is Dixie and I am 10 years old. I am a small mixed breed canine and adorable so I am told. I am very sweet and loving and seek very sweet and loving adult or couple for me, my 9 year old sister, Duchess (of the feline persuasion, specifically a Calico), and my brother, Rock (also of the feline persuasion, a Tabby) while our parents are away.
We live in an antebellum house in the historic district of Edgefield, SC, near Aiken, SC and Augusta, GA. It is a wonderful small town (No Uber, No Lyft, No public transportation, so a car IS necessary) and we live in walking distance from town square. The nearby cities have lots of museums, tours and quaint shopping. We also live near a large lake, 2 river walks and numerous state parks. Our parents have a bulletin board with lots of maps and places to visit.
If you like to go for walks, I do too. Though walking me isn't necessary, I could accompany you if you like. My sister and brother stay indoors but I like to sniff around outside but only when someone is with me. I am afraid of hawks so I don't go out alone. We are potty trained and very well behaved (I don't even bark). I used to be super low maintenance, but age has crept up on me a bit. Since I turned 10 this past September, I developed a thyroid condition and have to take a pill an hour before I eat breakfast. And sadly, a month ago, the doctor told my parents that I have diabetes. Daddy looked real sad and Momma cried. It really didn't sound all that bad to me, just a shot in the morning and one at night. I'm really brave when I get it and I don't cry at all, but the first few times my momma gave me the shot, she cried. I don't know why, I was the one getting stuck and I was very brave, not a peep.
Other than feeding us a couple times a day, my sister and brother's litter boxes needs scooped out daily and I need to go out to potty from time to time. Duchess and I like to sleep with mom and dad so we would need you to sleep in their bed and let us pile in with you. It's a king size bed so there is plenty of room. My brother Rock sleeps wherever he wants to. He's just a youngin, only about 2 years old and momma and daddy spoil him. Good grief! That kid can do no wrong! My parents say they don't have favorites, but I think I'm my momma's favorite (or at least she has loved me the longest, haha!) and I'm certain that Rock is daddy's favorite. But maybe that's because Rock is the boy I think daddy always wanted. Daddy still tells me I'm the PRINCESS, so who knows. Parents are hard to figure out sometimes.
My parents have a wonderful, detailed pet sitter book to make your stay comfortable and well-informed. It's tells you everything you need or want to know and provides our bio with pictures. Personally, I think I'm model material. My siblings, well they're are ok looking, but I could be a star!
My parents have 5G Wi-Fi and a bunch of streaming apps on all of the TVs in case you don't want to go and check out the sites around the area.
Well, I better go for now, I hear momma coming and she monitors my screen time. Oh brother! So, if you love cuddly, easy pets (and good-looking!) and a beautiful historic setting, you will never forget your stay with us. Please help our Mom and Dad have a getaway, they need it. We will be good and loving. Promise.
We look forward to sniffing you soon,
Dixie, Duchess and Rock
