Pieter and I have been house/pet sitting off and on for about 10 years. We are wrapping up a long term assignment in CO and will be available for sitting again soon! We've really enjoyed the families and pets we've met through House Sitters America.
We are home bodies by nature and would be a peaceful presence in your home and for your pets. We are quiet, contemplative types who enjoy living a simple life.
Basically, We've walked the earth for a while and have good common sense. You can feel confident with your home and pets in our care as you will see from the references, reviews and positive feedback from our many assignments - more from another site as well.

This was a last minute posting and she went above and beyond to help us make our trip happen. ---Even willing to come a night early so that we could make the handoff in person! Jane is the most conscientious, communicative, and collaborative house-sitter I've ever had! From our first contact/communications via this website, to the delightful video interview we had (and where we discovered many shared experiences and interests), to the daily pics she'd send of my contented cat while I was away... Jane was terrific! Her meticulous care of my home -- not only my cat, but also the gardens during excessive heat and drought, and even taking it upon herself to fix a small ... Jane and Pieter just completed a 3 month house sit for us and we could not be more pleased with all they did. They are excellent sitters and we highly recommend them. They are clean, conscientious, and great communicators. They went above and beyond assisting with our car so it was ready on our return. They kept us advised of a couple of minor issues with our cat and were very adept at handling medication as needed. They are lovely people and everything you would want in a house sitting team.

This is the second time we have been fortunate enough to have them care for our home and (most importantly) our 10 year old Basset Hound, Daisy. Jane and Pieter are professional, efficient, trustworthy and attentive to detail. They provided excellent care for Daisy including a trip to the vet to have stitches removed, a pedicure, walks 2x daily, baths, medication on schedule and ... FABULOUS ! Jane and Pieter are wonderful house sitters and kind caring people as well. We had great communication before and during the sit. Our dogs and fowl were perfectly happy and healthy when we returned. Our house was spotless and the garden was well tended as was the lawn. They did everything we requested of them and we felt very comfortable with them taking full responsibility of our home and creatures that depend on us. They are always welcome here.

Jane and Pieter were stellar house/pet sitters; while we were gone they had to deal with plumbers coming to the house, Christmas packages arriving, garden furniture arriving, which they assembled for us so that it was all ready when we returned home and they did it for a nominal fee. I feel very fortunate that we had them stay with our dog while we were away for 2 mos. helping our daughter and her husband with their newborn twins. They sent us regular messages so that we would not worry and ... We can't say enough about Jane and Pieter! When we departed for 3 months one of our elderly dogs had just been diagnosed with pancreatitis and heart failure. We feared he would be gone before we came home. Under Jane and Pieter's loving care, Buster is alive and well! Jane kept me apprised of Buster's condition, adjusted medications according to symptoms, and they took him to the vet as needed. Our house was immaculate when we came home and they handled every detail such as unforwarded ... MOREWe can't say enough about Jane and Pieter! Beyond the basics, what really makes Jane so special is the person she is. She is very empathetic and seemed to know exactly what we needed for peace of mind while we were away for such a long time. She kept in close contact, texting pix of our pups walking, playing, and sleeping. She quickly noticed and reported new issues that cropped up with the dogs and the house. Dog issues included an open scab that developed on Buster's skin, and changes in our Bingo's gait due to her torn ACL days before we left. Jane also managed issues that came up with the house such as when the pest guy pointed out a problem and when hydrangeas were wilting in the back yard.
I can't express our appreciation for the peace-of mind we had during such a long time away from home. We had such confidence in Jane that we were able to relax and really enjoy the time we spent with our children and new granddaughter who live on the opposite side of the country.

Jane was an absolutely fantastic house/cat sitter from start to finish. Jane came to sit for me last minute after another cat sitter cancelled. I am very protective of my cat, Louie, and Jane was gracious enough to provide me with two references to speak with over the phone last minute to ensure my peace of mind. The two references had wonderful things to say about Jane & they were right! Jane came over before I left for my trip to do a meet and greet and not only did Louie get along with her ... Jane & Pieter were terrific housesitters and petsitters. We've already booked them for a return visit! They handled minor house issues promptly & intelligently, replacing batteries in our smoke detectors, & light bulbs. We came home to find the house clean & tidy & the cat happy & well. They were delightful to deal with and took care of everything beautifully. I couldn't be more pleased.

Jane and Pieter took care of our 4 cats while we were gone for a month. Before choosing them, we were able to arrange a Skype call to meet face to face. Even though we had other people with more experience to choose from, we decided to follow our gut and went with Jane and Pieter. Jane emailed every few days with pictures and updates to let us know everything at home was going well. They were always easy to reach and quick to respond. Our cats adapted to them quite well (which was surprising) ... MOREJane and Pieter took care of our 4 cats while we were gone for a month. They took direction well and were very accommodating to our needs (they even dropped us off and picked us up from the airport). We found them to be responsible, clean, easygoing, and honest. We were very happy with our decision and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a house/pet sitter. This was our first time using this type of service and could not be more happy with the arrangement.
