When I sit for you, you can leave knowing your home is safely occupied and your cats are loved and cared for. Being petless has advantages, but I miss my cats and will be delighted to be with yours. House sitting also provides an appreciated change of scenery and lets me get to know your town or city as a temporary local.
I have over 40 years' experience as both a homeowner and renter. My home is extremely important to me: I live here, work here, and see only trusted friends here. I'll treat your home with the same fussy attention I give my own.
No one will enter your home, besides myself, without your authorization.
Cats were in the house before I was born and the entire time I lived at home. As an adult I've had only three pets. The first cat lived to be 19, and the second two, running concurrently, were 15 and 16. I really have moved over a ton of cat litter!
For short stays (1-2 weeks), I welcome house or house/cat sitting within about 200 miles of Seattle.
For stays from 2 to 6 weeks I'm happy to roam farther. I don't charge for house/cat sitting, so the only cost to you would be my roundtrip travel to your home, either driving or flying. I live north of Seattle and would fly out of Seattle-Tacoma International. A consideration is the availability of good public transit or a car. I have an excellent driving record. I'm a ghostwriter (please see "Autobiography of Hyperrealist Sculptor John DeAndrea" on Amazon) and technical editor. I will probably be working while I'm at your home. All I need is internet!
A few other points:
* Indoor cats only, please. I'm an ace at keeping indoor cats indoors.
* We can communicate as frequently as you wish by text, email, or cell.
* I'll leave your home as clean and neat as when I arrived. You'll barely be able to tell I was there.
* I don't smoke, drink, or use legal (or illegal) recreational drugs.
* With your detailed instructions, I'll care for indoor and outdoor plants.
* I've had two shots of the Pfizer vaccine (spring 2021), a Moderna booster (November 2021), and a Pfizer bivalent booster (September 2022).

Elaine is one of the very best. Super conscientious! She stepped in after another housesitter cancelled, drove many hours to get here, and took wonderful care of our house and kitties. She even volunteered to drive us to the airport at a very early hour so we didn't have to take a taxi. Wow, just WOW! She sent updates and pictures while we were travelling.
My adult children did not want me to get an animal because I would not be able to go anywhere, and for a long time I didn't.

Elaine stayed at my house for 10 days with absolutely no issues. She made huge inroads with my very skittish cats and even had one settle in on her lap. My house was just as clean and tidy as when I left, and she was very good about texting updates and photos. I never had a single inkling of worry. Elaine was a wonderful house sitter for my special boy, blue! Elaine communicated with me perfectly the whole time, she sent me photos and updates and constantly made me laugh with her messages about blue!

After several phone calls and emails, we asked Elaine to be our house sitter for two-plus weeks over the Christmas holidays. She arrived on time and patiently waited while I finished getting her room ready. She was pleasant to talk with, and kept in touch by text and email during and after our trip.

Elaine was amazing. Two days before our trip one of our 14-year-old cats developed unexpected health issues. Elaine came through with superb care, reliability and kindness. She also braved our "once a winter" treacherous snow conditions to drive to our home, and made me feel assured and secure that my babies were well cared for and in loving hands. Search no more! Elaine was the best cat and house sitter we could have hoped for. She took wonderful care of our kitty Chloe, and our home was spotless upon return. We enjoyed receiving text photos and comments during our 6 week vacation. It was clear that she bonded with our shy kitty! Elaine took excellent care of our home and cat. She even laundered the bed sheets prior to her departure and bought a toy to entertain our cat. Communication was excellent.
